23 SKINCARE TIPS (PART 2)
- NEVER WEAR MAKEUP TO BED
We’ve all been there from work to get home and everything you want to do is fall into bed. Though, it can lead to clogged pores and possible break-outs when you fall asleep in your makeup. You should therefore also wash your face with a gentle cleanser before getting into bed to remove impurities, dust, bacteria and make-up.
- ALWAYS USE A FACIAL MIST
Know that misting is most effective when you use a specially formulated facial spray if you’ve seen women spritzing their face mid-day and want to get into the body-care trend. Many of these products are rich in minerals that protect the skin.
- CARRY MICELLAR WATER OR FACE WIPES IN YOUR GYM BAG
Your workout will start messing with your skin without a quick post-sweat rinse. You risk clogging your pores with any dust, sweat, and make-up that remains on the surface of your skin when you don’t rinse off immediately. We recommend that you always bring facial wipes or a bottle of micellar water when you need to wash on the go. You can reduce the risk of a sweat-induced breakout with just a tap.
- SLEEP WELL
Depriving your body of sleep will affect your performance not only negatively, but it can also damage your skin. A study showed that poor sleep quality would actually increase signs of aging and decrease functions of skin barriers. Seek to get the right amount of sleep every night to keep your skin looking and feeling its best.
- TREAT YOUR NECK THE SAME WAY YOU TREAT YOUR FACE
Since the neck is one of the skin areas in our skin care routine that we appear to ignore, noticeable signs of aging can become a real problem. Extend the items below your jaw from your facial routine to help combat this problem. Make sure that your neck is moisturized regularly and never forget to apply sunscreen to it before going outdoors.
- EXFOLIATE LONGER, RATHER THAN HARDER
If you are trying to give a thorough exfoliation to your skin try to tackle your gentle scrubbing routine for a few more seconds instead of exfoliating your face vigorously. Taking a longer and gentler approach to your skin will help to remove impurities that obstruct pore without causing irritation.
- RELAX & UNWIND
Is there a big event that will stress you out? Seek to unwind! A study showed that psychological stress can actually increase the risk of acne, particularly in adolescents. So, try those stress-relieving, calming techniques to help calm your nerves. Curl with a good book on the sofa, sit in a tub, listen to music that’s relaxing, whatever it takes to help you relax.
- DON’T LICK YOUR LIPS
If you have dry lips, in an effort to find some relief, it may be tempting to want to lick them. This will only result in increased dryness, so instead try to grab a soothing lip scrub. An exfoliant or lip scrub can help remove any particles of dry skin gently. Start with your favorite lip balm to bring hydration back to your pout.
